Yes, I'm an official weather spotter now. This means if I call in a report of winds in excess of 50 mph, hail 1" in diameter or larger, funnel clouds or, of course, a tornado, my report will carry more weight than a report from John Q. Public. I've always had my eye to the sky- now I can report something if I see it. I am PSYCHED!

This is how I wound up buying an unneeded copy of Windows for a machine that died unexpectedly. Neatly packaged and labeled the software/driver discs and such, then lost the envelope because it was too big to put with similar stuff from past computers, stored a different way. But I found it again -- a week after giving up and buying the new software. Oh, the humanity!

Hello!

I came across your blog and saw that you are the mother of two teenagers, one of whom is fast approaching driving age! I read one of your posts that detailed your experience of riding with your daughter in the driver's seat (http://crazybusymom.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/practice-driving/), and I felt compelled to write to you about the website that I work for, www.driversedguru.com.

Driver's Ed Guru is a high-quality resource for new teen drivers and their parents. We offer nearly 100 free articles on driving, free instructional videos, and free DMV practice tests, among other useful resources. We feel it is a solid resource and hope to share it with as many new drivers as possible.

Please feel free to visit our site and click around and explore what we have to offer. I think that you'll find it's a reliable resource, and I hope that you'll consider sharing it with your readers. If you'd like to link to us, we've created a linking page to make the process a little easier. You can access it at: http://www.driversedguru.com/link-to-us/

We are dedicated to ensuring that young drivers and their parents have access to reliable information. We hope you'll share Driver's Ed Guru with your readers.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Warm regards,
Melissa Cusumano

My daughter is a level 10, and we are currently in the recruiting process. Really good level 9's can get scholarships, but you will be looking at schools that are lower in the standings in Div. 1 or any of the Div. 2 schools, which give partial scholarships.

You may have made the right move with the coaching change. I believe that at this age, the girls really need positive enthusiastic coaching to get them through. I think it's more mental than anything at this point. Good luck!

Living beneath your means is some advice that a lot of people need to hear. I hate that "the American Way" is poor financial planning.

Congratulations on saying no! Or at least deciding to not go to the meeting. Are people really that pushy!? I guess she was desperate. But come on! I know there have to be non-busy people she could ask. Even if they wouldn't be as organized and pressed to get things done, eventually things would happen.

Good for you, Andrea! You need to know what is reasonable and manageable for you to take on and not let anyone guilt-trip or push you into more, so I'm glad you resisted. Now about those late nights and vacation days...

Hi Ceci,

My daughter's new coach said she could be a level 9 or 10 for collegiate gymnastics. I always thought it had to be level 10. She said there's a huge difference in difficulty between levels 9 and 10. I don't know if level 8 would be considered high enough for collegiate gymnastics. How old is your daughter?
